Superior Taste Award
With its distinctive taste and fragrant aroma, Aalst Patissier – Signature Plus Dark 56% bagged the Superior Taste Award 2007 with 2 Stars from the prestigious International Taste & Quality Institute.
The International Taste & Quality Institute, iTQi, Brussels , is the leading independent Chef- and Sommelier- based organization dedicated to judging, honouring and promoting superior tasting food and drink from around the world.
For its juries, iTQi works in close partnership with the 10 most prestigious European culinary institutions and the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI).
For the tasting, iTQi submits each product to the judges in its category on a strictly blind basis, without packaging and without any kind of identification.
A code is assigned to each product in order to ensure the most reliable tracking. Products are prepared, heated or cooked strictly according to producer’s instructions and are presented as if they were served at home in a specific sequential order.
Each jugde is dedicated to a sensory analysis of the tasted product and assigns a numeric score on an evaluation sheet reflecting the overall feeling of hedonic pleasure (the most important weight in the final mark) and also other criteria like vision, smell, texture, flavour and mouth-feel.
This award did not come easy for Aalst. The product and development team took months to test and evaluate the different ingredients that are of the highest quality. In order to perfect the taste they took countless measurements and tests to ensure ingredients like cocoa mass, cocoa butter, and sugar are in the right proportion.
The ideal Patissier - Signature Plus Dark 56% was tested with the Japanese market as they have a penchant for very high quality dark chocolate. The Japanese market immediately fell in love with it and was given great commendation. This lead to Aalst taking part in iTQi superior taste award which it earns itself the great honour of 2 Stars
For now, Aalst Patissier is currently undergoing even more rigorous test to concoct new products which taste just as good if not better products.
Aalst Patissier is on schedule to launch its new range of products in October 2007.
